My name is Susana Quintas Darbonnens and I have 15 years’ experience at the international law firm Baker & McKenzie (2001-2016), where I worked as an in-house legal translator from 2006-2016. My work consisted in translating legal and business texts and reviewing/proofreading documents in English produced by the firm’s lawyers and their clients. I also served as a language consultant, answering queries on the texts produced in English on a daily basis. My duties included meeting the translation needs of the various departments and legal practice areas (labour, litigation, commercial, intellectual property, financial, tax, banking, public/administrative, environmental, pharmaceutical, competition…), which were in turn linked to the provision of services to large companies from various sectors, often global market leaders.
Before working in the business sector, my professional experience was within the academic environment in the United Kingdom, where I was a Lecturer in Spanish Language and Translation in Cambridge (University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University) for over 7 years, as well as an and external examiner and advisor for Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC) (Cardiff School of Management).
