Legal and business texts written in English
Translation or correction of English texts?
Which is the best option?

When drafting legal or business texts intended for non-Spanish speakers, a dilemma arises: is it preferable to write directly in English or to have the text translated?

My suggestion is that you make an honest and realistic assessment of your level of English and time available.

  • If your level of English is such that it allows you to write and present your argument clearly, and you have adequate knowledge of legal/business vocabulary and the necessary time available, my advice is that you request the correction of your own English text.
  • However, if your level of English is rather colloquial or not fluent enough to express complex content in the legal/business field, and/or you do not have sufficient time to prepare the text, I propose that you choose a specialist translation service.

For corrections of texts already written in English, I submit a version with track changes, as well as a ‘clean’ version, which is my proposed revision of the original text.

Language consulting

Support in the preparation of meetings and presentations in English via Skype

I offer support sessions to prepare meetings and presentations in English.

I help my clients with problematic issues in terms of expression, effective communication of content, pronunciation, etc.

Objective: Helping you to express yourself more confidently in English in these types of contexts, focusing on your individual needs and on those of the intended recipients.

During my work as an in-house translator in an international law firm for more than a decade, I acted as a language consultant in preparing meetings with clients to be held in English, and presentations to be delivered at conferences.

My postgraduate education in the United Kingdom, my teaching experience in British universities for 7 years, and the regular use of English over the last two decades in both my professional and personal life mean that I am in an excellent position to provide these specialist services successfully.
